Downtime planned for Late Saturday/Early Sunday

We’re planning on making changes to the system on Sunday, as well as moving the site to another server. The changes will be extensive so we’re planning on some downtime starting late on Saturday night and moving into Sunday. The downtime “planned” is for a few hours, but as we all know plans vs. what actually takes place are usually something completely different. We will work to get it all done as quickly as possible.

Once the new system is in place, we’ll begin processing the large list of duplicates. Many of the ones reported are actually duplicate reports (because multiple people found the same duplicates), so it likely won’t take long to go through.

I know several people have had questions about how the duplicates will be dealt with. Here is how we've decided to manage duplicate pictures. If a picture is uploaded twice, rather than deleting one of them and losing any views, votes, comments, battles, or favorites that it has been added to it, we're going to combine them. This will likely cause some fluctuation in the top rated pictures if any of them have duplicates with lower or higher ratings.<span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"; color:black">

Once the information is combined into one picture, which one gets deleted from the system? In general, the one that will stay is the oldest picture. So, whoever uploaded it first will retain the credit for uploading it. However, there are instances when this won't be the case, such as when one has better image quality. Now, considering I have an upload count that is higher than all top 10 contributors to the site combined, I don’t plan on doing the same for me. Personally, I don’t care what my upload count is. I just needed to get the site going and had this tremendous collection of boob pictures sitting on my computer doing nothing. So, if I run into a duplicate that I’ve also uploaded, I’ll move the credit to the other uploader (provided the quality is the same or better).

With the new system, there are a lot of bug fixes. One of which is the upload count bug that’s been plaguing us forever. Basically, what’s happening right now is on every upload it’s counting it twice. That’s why your upload counts are twice as high as they should be. I ran our recount a moment ago, so if you saw your upload count before reading this you probably panicked. Don’t worry, it only fixed the count.

There is more to post about the changes, and I shall do so later this week. Right now, I have to get back to work on it. I have a few things left to work on for the forum (yes, it’s getting a built in forum so we can drop PHPBB and the duplicate logins), and a couple backend items. Thanks for being part of the site. You guys are awesome.

I know we’ve got some screwy pictures and abusive accounts floating around out there…all that will be dealt with. Also, feel free to upload more pictures of Jordan Carver and Nadia Chapuis lady. :P
